Land ownership
our family bought our house over 17 years ago, there is a piece of land which is attached to the house which we have been using and maintaing over this time, this land is not owned by us, how do we go about claiming it?

You may be entitled to apply to register the land as yours through "adverse possession." You can consult the Practice applied by the Land Registry at http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/assets/library/documents/lrpg005.pdf.
You should first do an Index Map search to determine in the paracel of Land is registered in someone else's name
