Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Utah

Over charge on roof repairs

I got a quote from a contracter whom came out and gave me a quote of $500 dollars to replace some sky lights that were leaking in my garage. I did not have the money at the time, so I told him I would call when I did. A month passed before I got the money. Once I did, I called him and told him I had the money for him to do the work. He came out and finished the work, and said it will be $1200.

He was not the only contractor who came out. I had bids from other contractors who would charge about the same price($500-$600).

My wife and my neighbor were both present whe he quoted me $500.

I have already given him $600 and am wondering if I owe him another $600??

Re: Over charge on roof repairs

If he quoted $500, you owe $500. Did you get anything in writing? If not it is you and your wife's word against his. Don't pay any more. If he sues go to court and tell your story with your wife and with the other bids.
