Legal Question in Family Law in Vermont

pre-nuptial

A friend of mine is divorcing her husband. They signed a pre-nup to protect her assets some 12 years ago. She can not find her copy. It was either lost or stolen. The original lawyer has no copy. What recorse does the woman have to protect assets. Is there a record posted someplace.???

Husband is well aware fo the pre-nup.

Re: pre-nuptial

Unlikely, that the PreNup was filed if the lawyer does not have a copy. Your friend needs to have full consultation with an attorney ASAP and expect to provide full disclosure and supporting documents, to the attorney of all of her premarital and post marital assets. In order to determine the extent of your friends exposure.

Good luck,
