Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Co-Signed a Private Student Loan for a sibling. Loan is in collections not sure if the creditor attempted to pursue my sibling 1st. It there a way to get out of this loan or have my name removed? Or What other actions are available for Virginia residents?

Pretty sure the loan was not used for educational purposes. Does the actual use of the loan matter?
