Drunk in public is a Class 4 misdemeanor for an adult which means that it is only punishable with a fine. But for someone under age and in juvenile court, the judge has a range of punishments that he or she can impose - community service, probation, drug/alcohol treatment, etc. If you were charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol you can assume the punishment will be much stiffer. Virginia is also a "use and lose" state - if you have your learner's permit, you will lose it.
