Legal Question in DUI Law in Virginia

How do I take care of an old dui?

In Otctober of 2003 I got a DUI while I lived in Virigina. I moved to San Diego, CA in January of 2004. I was taking care of the DUI classes, however the last week I was unable to make it due to a new management position at work. My counselor said he would take care of it. Then I got another DUI in April of 2005 and I took care of that and got my certificate of completion. Then I went to the DMV to get my drivers license back only to find out that there was a hold on it from my previous DUI. I never did check back to make sure my old one was taken care of until a few months ago when I found out that I did not complete the program because of that last week I missed and because I didn't pay the full fee. I finished school in San Diego and just recently moved to Louisiana where I work as a Diver for a company called Tiburon. I really need my license for this job. I quess my question is how do I go about getting my license back without going to jail. I'm worried that if I try to straighten this up myself by correcting it and taking the class again that it won't be enough and I might face bigger charges. Should I hire a lawyer before I figure out what I need to do? Thanks

Better retain a Virginia defense counsel(preferably one who practices in the jurisdiction

where you got the DUI)who can research the matter,

contact the prosecutor(if appropriate) and your ASAP counselor, in order to determine what can be done at this particular late date to clear the matter.
