Legal Question in DUI Law in Virginia

Missed court appearance

My friend was arrested on a dui back in november of 2005. at the time she was fighting for custody of her children in court. She therefore chose to make the custody court date and miss the dui one.She has since moved to maine. Is this something that will just go away after some time if they don't convict or is this something she will have to face and what advice can I give her?

Re: Missed court appearance

Whether your friend is tried in her absence and convicted for the DUI or merely the recipient of an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for her trial, either way, if she comes back to Virginia and happens to be pulled over for a

traffic stop, she could find herself taken into custody and transported to the local hoosegow.

Warrants such as these can stay in the local WALES

system for years.(Wide Area Law Enforcement System)
