Criminal Record Expungement

I am a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia. I was arrested for domestic assult but the charges were dropped. I would like to have the item removed from my criminal record altogether. Can you explain the process? How can I do it without an attorney? If I need an attorney, what should the fee be?

Section 19.2-392.2 of the Code of Virginia describes the procedures for expunging police (arrest) and court records. A petition needs to be filed with the circuit court in the jurisdiction which was originally

responsible for the matter.
