Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

No support

I've only a high school education, been married for 16 years, 2 kids, no job. My husband is very controlling and degrading towards me. I don't know how I can make it on my own, no family lives in this state. The kids schools are wonderful so I don't want to move. Husband drinks 14 beers each day of weekend. How can I get him to move out? Or do I move out with kids? And how would I support myself and children? Could husband cancel credit cards? Freeze bank accounts? I have no knowledge becasue husband always handles the finances. What should be my first step to getting myself on the right path for a better life?

You should arrange for a consultation with an attorney in your area who is knowledgeable in family law and practice and who should be able to advise you reliably on your various issues. If you cannot afford to pay for such a consultation, you should contact one of the low cost legal services providers in your area that may be able to provide some assistance.
