I am reluctant to reply to this inquiry without more facts. However, generally no person is held liable for the support of a child whom THEY HAVE NOT ADOPTED. An exception may be made under what is called in loco parentis. This means acting like a parent in such as way as to infer dependency. So if you marry a person who is the parent of a minor child, you are running this risk.

You would not be legally liable for your future husband's child support obligation(s) after your marriage and neither your income tax refunds would be subject to intercept nor your your wages

to garnishment in order to satisfy child support responsibilities which are his alone.
