Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Employer taping conversations with employees

In the state of Virginia, is it legal for a Employer to tape record conversations with employees with or without their consent? If so will these recordings hold up in a court of law? Also would it be legal to fire or otherwise treat differently an employee who refused to consent to said recordings?

Virginia is a so-called one party state when it comes to the legality of recorded conversations, meaning that only one of the parties to a recorded conversation needs to consent to the recording(which obviously is usually the recorder herself).
