Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Non-Compete Contracts

I have been currently let go with no explanation at a tattoo shop. My concern is I am under a 3-year non-compete contract prohibiitng me from working within 50 miles. Is this enforceable in the state of Virginia since it prohibits me from working at another tattoo shop? I just can't pack up and move my family to support them when we have established a home here.
