Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Was my privacy violated?

I work for a national mortgage company in No. VA. Recently, during discussions of a potential joint venture between my company and the owner of a local real estate company, my production numbers were given to the owner of the real estate company (via email by an officer of the mortgage company, that was forwarded to me when I found out)without my permission or authorization. I have checked my employment agreement with the mortgage company and cannot find a clause that states my production figures are for publication. Income was not disclosed, but it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Did my employer violate any of my privacy rights?

Re: Was my privacy violated?

Under the business circumstances which you've described, I would doubt whether any of your privacy rights have been violated.
