Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

retirement pay

our pastor had a contract which stated he would receive retirement pay of 14% of his salary. It was over looked and for at least 10 yrs. he only received 10%. he resigned with a 30 day notice and informed the officers of the oversite and requested one year of the difference that he was owed. what is the statue of limitations on retirement pay. we did agree to pay the one year differential, but would like to know what is the statue of limitations in case he changes his mind later?
