Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Renters rights

My husband was in an accident in June 2007, because of this he lost his job. We got behind on rent paying what we could and what our church would help with . I went to an agency and they paid all our rent up through December 1st and all late charges. Now we are ten days late and he said he is going to go to evict us. Can he do this and we are only ten days late now? My husband is disabled.

Re: Renters rights

Yes, in reality, it's likely only 5 days in your current situation, after which your landlord can serve you with the so-called PAY OR QUIT notice which if followed by continued late payments or delinquency can allow the landlord to undertake eviction proceedings.
