Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Surveyed Land

Ashamed to say about 20 years ago had land surveyed prior to issue of separate deeds. Death and squabbles stopped division. Ready to proceed. Same surveyor now says for plat, will cost 7000.00 to resurvey. Is this usual? This is the state of Virginia. We do have copies of original survey. Thanks for any help.

$7000.00 for a resurvey and plat seems high. Why not get a couple of other estimates?
