Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

house settlement

Hi,

My divorce is final. While married my

wife and I, purchased a

property in Washington state, that

was quit claimed to me by my (at the

time wife) at closing. The title and

loans are in my name.

The divorce settlement we both

signed (division of property) states

the house is awarded to me. I agreed

in exchange to give her an amount of

money.

Do I also need a document stating

that once she cashes the check she

will no further have any claims for

this property?

Thank you so much.

Kindest regards,

Gabriel

Re: house settlement

The short answer to your question is no. The quit claim deed, and the decree of dissolution are sufficient proof of the agreement reached between you and your ex-wife.
