Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Washington

titanium plate exposed on my leg

On January 24 2007, I had a spiral fracture to my tibia and fibula, as a result the surgen put two titanium plates and 18 screws in my leg. My first visit back he sent me to a wound care clinic because one of my incisions was not healing like the other four. The insision is low by my ankle and I have had to go to the wound care clinic 3 times a week to promote healing. But about 3 weeks ago it just was getinhg worse and the titanium plate was/still is totaly exposed about the size of a half doller and so they are going to take out the plate which was suppose to be there for life and the bone is not even close to healing. Has anyone heard of this before please help me

Re: titanium plate exposed on my leg

In my experience you can have this type of complication with a fracture like yours. The issue is the timeliness in recognizing the problem and correcting it so as to avoid an infection and complications from an infection.

No one can tell you anything until the outcome is known to you. I suggest you follow up with your doctor regularly and make sure you afe monitored by an infectious disease doctor too.

If you wish to talk about it, feel free to call me.
