Cab Company
If an accident w/injuries occurs while traveling in a cab, is the cab company held liable? Would the liability be any different if the legal, contracted driver had someone else driving, illegally and without the company's knowlege?

It's like any other accident. If the cab driver is totally or partially at fault, then your case is against the cabby and the other car.
Cab insurance is high risk coverage and these insurers are difficult to deal with.
