You should meet IN PERSON with a lawyer experienced in handling L&I cases, also known as Workers Compensation cases, and do it as soon as possible, since there are time limits that may apply. If you don't know where to look, you can ask fellow workers if they had any good experiences with an L&I lawyer, or check the yellow pages. Also, the I believe the state bar association in Washington maintains a lawyer referral service.

In any event, your injury sounds serious enough that you shouldn't go it alone. Most of the time, L&I lawyers won't ask you for any up-front money, and will get paid out of any settlement or award they might get for you.

Good luck,

Sam
