Legal Question in Bankruptcy in West Virginia

Who owns the car

I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 11/97. I didn't want to keep my car so i gave it up to the bank. The bank said the car wasn't worth taking and called it a dead loan and said I could do anything I wanted with the car. They still have the title to the car, It is registered in my name.

I want to junk the car The question is who owns the car and how can I get rid of it.

It would appear that the bank has abandoned its collateral. You own the car, but it is still subject to the lien. You could take the car to a salvage yard and they will handle the title problem.
