Legal Question in Family Law in West Virginia

Parental Rights

The father of my child has never payed child support. She is 6 years old. I was told that there is a statue of limitations to his rights. I was told that if he doesn't pay support he loses his rights after she turns 7. My question is: Is there a deadline to when he loses all rights? He has not seen her since she was 1 year old and I want to know if there is something that can keep him from coming back years from now and turning her life upside down.

Re: Parental Rights

There is no set time by which a parent loses parental rights. It might be possible to petition the Court for a termination of visitation rights.
