Do I need a divorce if seperated for 45 years

I hate to sound like a wise guy, but nobody "needs" a

divorce--only those who are for some reason unhappy

with continuing the legal status of being married.

Being married carries with it many significant rights

and restrictions, including a restriction against

marrying anyone else, a right and duty of mutual support,

and liability for one another's debts. Another important one

is the marital property right to one half of any property

(or debt)accumulated during the marraige. Which,

if any, of these do you seek to change? Answer that question and I

can tell you whether or not you "need" a divorce.

Incidently, the fact of separation means almost nothing in Wisconsin

relative to these rights and obligations.
