Legal Question in Employment Law in Wisconsin

job demotion

On Monday I was demoted from a job I have held for 14+ years. Since the new plant manager took over she has constantly been on my case for anything and everything. She placed another group leader and a temp worker with no experience above me in that dept. I requested a transfer out of that dept but the company has refused me stating that I have to train these people who do not know anything about running the machines in this area. Do I have to train people that I am being replaced by?

Re: job demotion

Hello,

I am going to give you an you arent going to like. No, you dont have to train them. You can quit, or be fired. Or train them, and then maybe be fired later. In Wisconsin, the law is very favorable for employers...you can be fired or demoted for no reason or any reason. She can fire you if she doesnt like your shirt color or haircut and there is nothing you can do about it. The only thing they cant do is fire and replace you on the basis of age, sex, race or religion. Your best bet is to try to find someone in the company to support and help you. You said you tried that; but maybe you can find someone else or try a different approach. Sorry I could not be of much help, but I dont known your company or what options you may have there.
