Legal Question in Employment Law in Wisconsin

Wrongful Termination

I am 7 1/2 months pregnant and work in the field of day care. In my state, there are certain courses needed to work in my field. I am in need of one of these courses. When I started work, there was no time limit set as to when this had to be completed by. I was told the company would provide the course for me, but in the past year, my boss was never able to send me to the course. Today I was told if I don't have the course by the time I am done with my maternity leave, I will not have a job when I come--name removed-- Considering that I am due to have my baby in a matter of weeks, I don't forsee having this course completed by the time my maternity leave is over. If I am ''let go'' during my maternity leave, would I be able to sue them for wrongful termination? I guess I would like to know if I would have a case if this company terminates me while I'm on maternity leave. Thanks!!

Re: Wrongful Termination

Hello

In Wisconsin there is a Family Leave law that may or may not apply to your situation. It depends on the size of the company and other factors. It is too difficult to speculate on a more precise opinion in this situation.
