Counter suit for divorce
My wife has filed for divorce on grounds of ''Irreconcilable Differences''. I don't really want to get a divorce but if she is intent on getting one when would I be able to countersue? Is there a time when it would be too late for me to file and her filing take precedence? I am certain she is having an affair, or at least seeing another man which has caused her to want to end a 20 year marriage (with two children). My grounds for a counter suite would be infidelity. I don't want to pull the trigger on this too soon and ruin any chance of getting back together. I still have hope she will realize she is just infatuated with this person and want to save our marriage. Please advise when it would be too late to countersue and if I gain anything by countersueing. Thank you.

California is a no fault divorce state. The court has no interest in whether or not she is having an affair.
