If you are unable to pay for an attorney to defend you, can you get a court appointed lawyer for civil suit defense ?

You usually have no right to an attorney in a civil case with some exceptions such as juvenile dependent/neglect cases. Free Legal Services may be available depending on the type of case but they are not required to represent all needy people and only handle certain types of cases.
