Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Do I owe to a medical practice that went bankrupt.

I went to a medical office to be refered for an MRI. I recieved treatment but case was pending for 2 years due to court date. I was recieving bills for the whole 2 years. I have not recieved them for the last few months so I called to make sure I was not turned into collections. At that point the man in chrage of my account told me that they had gone after the company who refered me and turned them into collections. He also slipped and told me that they had went bankrupt. The number that I had for the office is non-op so I belive this is true. Now do I owe money to the medical office that gave me the MRI or can they only go after the refering office? I really would appreciate any help. I have all these bills due to a car accident in which someone rear ended me. I lost the case and am in debt because I have no experience with law. :)Thanxs

Your debt to someone else is not affected by -their- bankruptcy. Contact the lawyer who handled your personal injury case and find out why this bill was not paid from your settlement. If you chose not to use a lawyer in your case, then you may have (I hope) learned an expensive lesson.
