Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

A friend's small business received CR-125/JV-525 (only page 1 of 2) form signed by an Attorney but without a court stamp, about some unrelated case. The form only had 2(c) 2nd checkbox selected, but without including a attached sheet labeled "Provide These Items.". Attorney enclosed a letter with numbers scrolling on the left edge, mentioning a (case) number in the middle right and in bold capital letters "AFFIDAVIT FOR SUBPOENA" and in the 2nd page "In order to answer the claims in the above case we are requesting the following information: ..." ... requesting copies of some unrelated corporate invoice. My friend is absolutely unrelated to the details mentioned in there and says the Attorney is totally mistaken.

Is this legally correct? Is my friend legally required to respond to this Court or the Attorney?

What should my friend do to avoid harassments?

Thanks

Your friend should contact the attorney whose name is on these documents, and tell the attorney that they have no information about the case. If the attorney persists in his request for information and compliance with the subpoena, inform the attorney that the subpoena is invalid. The JV form is for juvenile court your friend can contact the county counsel and ask about the validity of the subpoena. Consulting with an attorney who can look at the doucments would provide the best result.
