Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Reducing Probation from A DUI

I recently graduated and landed an opportunity with a, Northwestern Mutual, well-known financial services company. I would be an independent contractor and financial representative. I was welcomed aboard and the only thing left was a background check. I got two DUI's under the age of 21, one when I was 18 and one when I was 20. The group that was hiring me had to submit my application to the home office and the home office denied the contract because I am on informal probation. I was sentenced to 5 years informal probation and DUI classes and a few days in jail. It will be four years since my 2nd DUI this August. I have completed all the classes and everything required by my sentence, have stayed out of trouble and have graduated with a BS in Finance, with a good GPA. The recruiting director said that I can come aboard if I can get the probation reduced by the judge, or I can wait until August 2010, which is when the informal probation ends. This was not the hiring groups decision, it was the home offices. The managing partner even called to appeal my case to the corporate office to allow me to come on board.

My question: Is there any way I can get the probation reduced so that I can get my career started?

In my view you have a good shot at early termination if you can document that you have a job offer on the table and the fact that you have bettered yourself so to speak in the last few years.

You would need to prepare, file and argue a motion to terminate your probation (and expunge your convictions while you are at it). Best done by a lawyer.

Yes, possibly. Your attorney can file a motion seeking early termination, for good cause, which sounds like you have. If serious about getting this done, feel free to contact me.
