Legal Question in DUI Law in California

19 year old son dui

My 19 year old son was detained 6 hours, for DUI. He was released but is concerned about whether he needs to find an attorney to defend him or have a court appointed attorney to try to decrease charge or just appear before the judge.

I agree with George. This is a serious charge, your family should take it seriously. Public defenders are over worked and have little time for your son's case.

Hire an attorney with DUI experience. I would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail at your earliest convenience.

For best results, hire a private attorney. If you or your son cannot afford one, then the public defender will

be appointed. You also need to deal with the dmv hearing. You only have ten days from his arrest to set up this hearing or else he will be deemed to have waived his rights.
