Legal Question in DUI Law in California

How long do DUI convictions stay on your records?

I had a California DUI conviction in 1988. I paid my fine, went thru a diversion program, and have had no subsequent convictions or arrests. I am now living in Nevada, and applying for a job with the state of Nevada. One question on their application is: ''Have you ever been convicted of a misdeameanor?''

My question is: Is that old California conviction still on my record? If it is, can I get it removed? Does Nevada share this information with California? I'm afraid I won't get the job if I report it on my job application.

Re: How long do DUI convictions stay on your records?

The conviction remains on your driving record for 7 years, but it will remain in the computer system for ever. Expunging the record removes it for some purposes but it can still be seen by law enforcement agencies. Your best bet may be to just be honest and divulge the misdemenor conviction. An Old misdemeanor conviction generally will not hurt as much as not being truthfully.
