Legal Question in Family Law in California

I live in California. I have been married for twenty years and have two sons, ages 20 and 18. I'm thinking about divorce. What am I entitled to? Any alimony?

For a long term marriage as yours, there would be alimony at issue, however the determination would depend on the respective incomes of the parties and the marital standard of living. The alimony crtieria is a multi factor analysis. Generally if your spouse is the higher earner you may be entitled to alimony.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
