What do I need to marry a non-resident of the US, when she lives in Canada and im in the Marine Corps based in Camp Pendelton California? She is not interested in getting citizenship to the US becasue she has to finish up school. We just want to be legally married.
No problem. You can marry any place you wish--Canada or the U.S. If she wants permanent residency (a precondition to citizenship), she can be processed through the consulate in Montreal. Or, if she first enters the U.S. as a non-immigrant, then decides she wants to become a permanent resident, she can "adjust status." FYI: A Canadian can also become a U.S. citizen and still retain Canadian citizenship. (I have.)
