Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employer suing for changing the company.

I was working at the client though a middle agency for about 8 months. I worked for my employer for about a year and asked him for salary raise but he refused. By the same time my Client manager told me that middle agency is charging on me is very high and I can come thru any other agency that will save him some money. He also suggested two company names to me. I talked to one of them and they where ready to hire me.

I told my employer and the middle agency that I am going to change the company. My employer was fine with the deal but the middle agency said they can give me some better offer and asked me to wait for a month. Before the end of the month I reminded them and got no response. So I joined new employer. Now my employer and the middle agency are threatening me that they are going to sue me that I am working at the same client but through a different employer. I had one year contract with my previous employer and I left they job after 14 months. He says that I cannot be an employee of end client nor work for end client from different agency.

Please let me know what should I do in this case.
