Legal Question in Employment Law in California

employment contract

I have signed a 2 year contract for a nursing registry here in california just i could i apply for employment based petition through the uscis. After 1 year and a half in the contract i have submitted a resignation letter to the owner of the company i work for. Unfortunately he rejected my resignation and instead threatened to slap me a case of breach of contract. I have reiterated my intention of to reimbursing them with whatever amount they have spent on my petition which totalled to $11,000.00 but to no avail they still rejected my resignation and they want me to finish my 2 years with them. What can i do at this point? I dont have any intention of stsying with them since they have an issue with the way treat us nurses. I need help on what help can i get thx.

Re: employment contract

Complete and accurate advice to you would require in a review of your employment contract and an understanding of the relationship between you and the registry. You should make an appointment promptly with an employee rights attorney in your area and have your contract reviewed.

Re: employment contract

Consult a local employee rights attorney, but in general the registry should not be able to recover any more than a prorata portion of their cost, if that. You have already completed 3/4 of the contract, plus you may have proper grounds to terminate.
