Re: lay off while on disability

A person can be laid off while on disability, if they would have been laid off for legitimate reasons regardless of their medical status. For example, if the employee worked in a department that shut down, or they would have been included in a mass layoff, their disability does not protect them.

Many communities have legal aid programs that offer low cost or free legal assistance, depending upon your financial status. Check with your county bar association for a referral.
