I have recently been terminated. Is my employer obligated to pay me for the unused sick and annual leave which I built up during my 20 years of employment?

Sick pay is a benefit, not compensation. It evaporates upon termination. Without knowing what your company's "annual leave" policy states, I cannot tell for sure if you are talking about true vacation or some other benefit. Unused vacation is considered part of your compensation and must be paid out at the time of termination.
