Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

non injury car accident - do I need a lawyer to get compensation?

Hi,

My sister was involved in a car accident on 3/1/2006 while driving my car. I have her as second driver on my insurance, however I don't collision coverage on the car. She was driving straight, the other party was making a left turn from the street intersection, merging to my sister's lane.

THe light was green on my sister's side, however, the other party also claims that her light was green.

A police report was done for the accident, and the police noted in the report, he cannot make any recommendation who is at fault, but noted the debris of the accident is not consistent with my sister's statement.

Base on this note, her insurance denied our claim and now is submitting claim to our insurance claiming that we are at fault.

Since I don't have collision coverage on my car, my insurance told me they couldn't help me with my claim to the other party's insurance. ALl they can do is to denied the claim from the other party's insurance.

My questions is if I want to get the claim settlement on my car, do I need a lawyer? If so, is there any lawyer who will take my case since it is a non-injury car accident?

Sure, there are a lot of attorneys who will take the case, as long as you are willing to pay by the hour. Based upon your facts and the police report, the best an attorney may be able to do is keep the other side from collecting from you. That should be worth a couple hours of fees to you.
