Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My 11-year son is playing basketball in my backyard 10-15 min. a day during regular daylight hours.

Next door building tenant is complaining about noise because his wife is working night shift and can not sleep. I asked him what hours is she not sleeping?

He said my son can NEVER ever play basketball anytime.

I think he is ridiculous.

I don't believe you have a legal obligation to force your son from playing basketball. I don't think this constitutes an actionable nuisance. Nonetheless, try to discuss the matter with the neighbor and see if some accommodation can be made.
