Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

An elderly friend with a living trust had a beneficiary die. Can he write in a replacement/change and initial the change? Original document was prepared and notarized a long time ago in another city.

No. Assuming the trust is a revocable trust, the settlor (your friend) can draft an amendment to the trust naming or eliminating a beneficiary. It will need to be signed and notarized just like the original trust.

Since the trust was written "a long time ago", I suggest the settlor consult with an estate planning attorney near him to make any changes.
