workers comp collections

Is there a law that prohibits collection agencies from attempting to collect money from a person for services provided by a doctor in reference to a worker's compensation claim?

Re: workers comp collections

There is no actual law that I can think of. The question should be is why are you being contacted by a medical provider when your injury was work-related? Generally speaking, the employer is responsible for your medical care. With that said, there are many instances where the injured worker self procured his medical care prior to stepping into the workers' comp. system. Those providers are the ones that usually bill the injured worker directly. You need to contact the provider and give them the employer's information and hopefully they will leave you alone. Sometimes they do work with the employer, and sometimes they do not. This is one of the many reasons why injured workers retain counsel.

I will be glad give you a free consultation if you contact me at 818.385.0520.
