Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Colorado

slander

my son went into a retail establishment, (which he, myself, and my other son all work for) to purchase a drink and a pack of cigerettes after getting the cigeretts from person at the front register he went to get his drink wiyhout thinking about it he stuck the cigeretts in his pocket as he reached for his drink from the cooler he then proceeded to the cashier at the photo lab to be rung up. Upon returning to his appartment he realized that he still had the cigerettes in his pocket and returned to the store appologized for the mistake and paid for the cigerettes. Meanwhile, the ast. manager of the establishment upon finding out that he worked for the company sent out an E-Mail titled employee theft asking that anyone knowing my elder son (not the one who went into the store) or his brother, using both of their names, to please call because he had just been in there and stole a pack of cigeretts. This E-Mail was sent to the entire district essentialy calling both of my sons thieves, and my younger son has since been fired as a thief.

is this legal and is there anything we can do.

Re: slander

I don't practice in CO, but you should go over the facts in more detail with and attorney; there might be something you can do...either sue or something simpler. Good luck!
