I have a problem and a concern with the DC retirement board. my ex husband, he has since married again the problem we have is his life insurance policy he told our children that he will not make any changes to his policy. what I would like to know is, what I need to do to see these forms he was supposed to have canceled the children visited the opm office where we were told that my self and children was the benefis. on his policy. the next day I was called again to be told that he had changed the beneficiary to cancel prior designation. I ask the board to please let me see the changes he had made since it was our children and my self was the beneficiary. I was denied to veiw these forms I am at a stand still not knowing what to do or who to turn to. my question is do I have the legal right to view these forms that cancled his family on his insurance policy and everything that he may have owned. What can I do or where do I go to get permission to see the forms. Please help me. what do I do at this point or if there is any thing I can do. thank you for your time.sincerely, no hope

Re: deceased retirement and insurance claim

Why should you need to see the forms if you've already been informed that neither you nor your children are listed as beneficiaries under your former husband's life insurance policy?

Unless there is some kind of court order which requires that he maintain you and the children as named beneficiaries under this policy, your former spouse is free to designate any person(s) he chooses as such beneficiaries.
