Lease payment

My old landlord is asking me to repay the rent of a month from 2 yrs ago for which i gave him a check but he never cashed it? can he do that?

Sure, he can ask you to pay it; however, whether his claim is still legally enforceable under these circumstances under the law of the District of Columbia is another issue.
