Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

When it comes to ID Theft and you know who is doing it what happens? My husband's ex girlfriend who they share a child with was given his SS# by Child Support. She puts cable, cell phones, internet, and anything else she can on his credit, rings it up until they shut it off for nonpayment. We get stuck with the bill. Made a police report but that got us no where since we have to go to each state/city she opened the accounts up on. Sometimes they have been over the phone, internet and even in person. Can she get into trouble since A. She does not have permission to do it. B. They are not together? I don't even open anything in his name unless he is there and knows about it. The dumb idiot also doesn't get it that all the addresses that she has lived at is listed on his Credit Reports. We have lived at the same house for over 7 years. Is there anything that can be done about this? Please help his credit is going down the toilet thanks to her. Thank you for your help.

Your facts describe a criminal action (theft, fraud). Regarding prosecution of the crime, you can contact the applicable department of the state attorney general. Regarding the credit

issue, you should contact the applicable credit reporting agency (one of three agencies

is likely your contact) to provide full information, correct your current credit report, and

include on your credit report a statement (up to 100 words) describing any credit issues

caused by the criminal ID theft of the individual.
