Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have a 15 year old son who wants to live with his step-father in the USA when I move to South Africa later this year. His step father and I were together when my son was born and married for 10 years but divorced a couple years ago. He doesn't know this is not his biological father and sees him on weekends and holidays. Can I legally allow him to live with him if he is not related? If not, what steps would we need to take to allow him to live there? I am not opposed but want to make sure I am legally protected.

Does you son have your married name (the step fathers name? If not if there has been no contact or interest by the biological parent you could arrange for your ex to legally adopt the child which would clear up this situation legally. If you need assistance e-mail me your phone # to discuss.
