Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Ex's Live-in Boyfriend has different religious belief, and is engaging in discus

I need to know what rights I have in the following situation:

My ex-wife has moved her boyfriend in with her and our kids.

He does not believe in God. He has engaged in discussions with the kids about this fact, to the point of asking questions like ''If God can do anything, can he make a rock so big he cant pick it up?''. I believe in God, and have always strived to instill this believeth into my children.

What are my rights in this situation?

I assume that your ex has been appointed as the primary residential parent and that you have reasonable visitation rights.

First, you should read your Final Judgment to determine if there are any specific provisions that apply in this situation. I doubt you will find anything but it is possible.

My experience is that a court will not force either parent to promote specific religious beliefs in the children. This generally means that each parent may expose the children to their own religious beliefs. And, you can do this when you have the children for visitation.

One more extreme option is to attempt to modify the Final Judgment and obtain custody. It is unlikely that a court would modify custody based only on the one issue you have discussed in your post. However, if other factors were present, you might have a basis for modification. You would need to consult with an attorney who can review all of the facts in your case and give you an opinion.

Note that another often overlooked solution might be available to you. You might try communicating your concerns with your ex if you have not already done so. She may be willing to work with you on this issue.
