Re: Funds raised

It depends. Do you want your contributors to be able to deduct donations from their taxes? If so, there are some very strict rules.

Having helped clients raise money for cancer-stricken children in the past, my best advice to you is to seek the help of a lawyer. Though you may have the best of intentions, it's easy to be accused of fraud and theft when seeking donations, even when it's for the best of causes. Also, there are organizations that will help you raise money and hold and keep track of the funds for you, and you should consider one of those organizations instead of doing it yourself. For starters, you might consider contacting the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. They can point you toward organizations that help people trying to raise money for kids suffering from cancer.
