Laymen vs Attorney at civil service board hearing!
In our city if an employee wants to dispute a repremand or discharge he can go before the civil service board. However he will oppose an attorney from the gengeral counsel office. He can hire an attorney, but attorney,s fees are not recoverable. This seems like a great injustice to me how could the average layperson be expected to receive a fair hearing, when he is opposed bu professional counsel. It this permissable.

You can hire an attorney, you just have to absorb all of the cost associated with his or her services. There is nothing illegal about this . . .
